LEGO Bugatti

8 04 2010

Skilled LEGO builder Sheepo went and made a Bugatti Veyron out of LEGO Technic pieces. watch the video to fully appreciate Sheepo’s work though, because it shows off the car’s braking, automated bonnet and rear spoiler, and amazing 7-speed gearbox (transmission action starts at 1:45).

Bumper cars. Really, Bumper cars cars.

30 03 2010

Very cool.
These little beasties are street legal (In Cali anyways). They run on either Kawasaki or Honda motorcycle engines and co-opt vintage bumper car bodies into the most awesome form of mini-car we’ve seen in too long.

There are seven of these little monsters floating around California, and they’re all the creation of one man, Tom Wright, a builder in the outskirts of San Diego who figured the leftovers of the Long Beach Pike amusement park needed a more dignified end than the trash heap. They were originally powered by two cylinder Harley Davidson Motorcycle engines but they rattled like heck because of the two cylinder vibration and Tom replaces them with four cylinder Honda or Kawasaki 750’s and a couple have been measured as capable of 160 MPH, which is terrifyingly fast in machines with such a short wheelbase. By the way, they are almost indestructible in accidents!

Ford’s new Taurus-based Police Interceptor

22 03 2010

Ford will be adapting the Taurus to take over for the aged Crown Victoria, which is finally being euthanized in September 2011.

This twin-turbo cop car would provide the first real performance challenge to the increasingly popular Dodge Charger while likely getting much better fuel economy (not to mention GM’s upcoming V8-powered, RWD, Zeta-based cruiser), and we presume that the Blue Oval will field the new units with the obligatory upgrades, including a more robust suspension, cooling system, electrical system and, hopefully, brakes.

The Tesla Roadster

2 03 2010

The Tesla Roadster runs on batteries, and so too do (many) TAG Heuer watches. It’s out of this obvious correlation that the TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster was born, a one-off special edition skinned in some unfortunate graphics then blessed with an extra slot in the center console for a similarly spendy Meridiist phone. There’s also room in there for a one-fifth second analog Heuer Limited Edition Stopwatch, which sounds like a very useful addition indeed. For Those of Y’all attending Geneva Motor Show later this week will have a chance to see this (otherwise stock) car in-person, while the rest of us up here in Canada Eh! will have to make do with the gallery of photos below, which truly shows that “technology — whether worn on your wrist or driven on the road — can help us live better while we tread more lightly on this planet.” These words courtesy of Elon Musk, who can surely be seen at the show wearing a giant piece of wrist-borne chronography.

Mini : Beachcomber Concept

13 01 2010

Now THIS is a Mini I can get behind.  This thing is AMAZING!!!  They definitely need to push this bad boy into production asap. I wasn’t really feeling their second run at a vehicle the clubman?  Or stretched Mini?  Either way it was weak.  But this.  This is promising.  The Beachcomber is basically Mini’s take on the SUV. It looks to be well designed, multifunctional and fun.
